I'm MM spec 7/57/7.. i've been doing Serpent Sting/Chimera Shot/Aimed Shot/Steady Shot (till Chimera is up then repeat from there.) on the dummies in IF i can pull 5k dps with out using any trinkets am i doing something wrong? Here is my armory Link. any feed back would be much appreciated.

I would not worry about those IF dummies to much.MM is a very gear dependant spec. While you seem to have some good gear that Hunters harpon is bringing you down right now.Your abilitys come form weapon damage so if its low,so is your dps.As you gear up you`ll really start seeing your dps improve alot.I crit alot higher on my hunter than i do my mage and its not geared that well. You have a nice bow but you need to replace your harpoon. As far as rotation goes Serpent sting,Silencing shot(although it will be immune to the silencing part) but you see it gives 50% weapon damage.See where that comes in now? then Aimed Shot,Chimera Shot,Kill shot when under 20%.then Steady Shot.Dont forget to use your rapid fire and readiness and kill command on your pet too. Also glyph of Chimera Shot might help.I use it i see you dont have that one.Great site to use also is maxdps to help with gemming and enchants.

I am using Lupine Longstaff,(dont know how to link it) I`m just getting my hunter geared enough to start doing ICC.That staff drops out of ToTC,so thats something easy to get into and would be a great upgrade until you could get something out of ICC.You can check it out on my armory http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Korgath&cn=Ackmed

That war axe is fine till u can get a better 2 handed in ICC. I use duel wield because of ArP and im going to change over most of my gear for that later. Most shot patterns are Hunters mark up, serpent sting, chimera (silencing shot since it doesn't share global cooldown), Aimed shot, Steady shot spam till chimera is up and repeat..... Silencing will pop up and should be added to another shot to save time and cooldown. Also after the first run on the shot rotation i like to hit Kill Command for the pet.... Don't forget if ur in a raid when u need to do massive dps I start by popping cool downs at the start, some i wait till after there shield is down. U'll just have to figure out the best time, a lot of times u can pop it first thing and they should be back up when hero is hit then use ur refresh and pop them again. On normal fights 25 I can usually get my CD's out 3 times.

(Lol at me for replying to an old thread but it is the newest on in this section)
One trick that helped me pull and extra 500-600 dps was learning how to time my CD's around heroism and the length of the fight. Since Arp and Agi are king for hunter dps, most people don't have enough haste to keep steady shot at a 1.5sec cast speed all the time and spacing out your rapid fire x2 and your potion use around heroism is an easy way to give yourself longer periods of time in which you can squeeze an extra steady shot in between your chimera/aimed shots. So people have theory crafted that stacking since stacking haste effects give you more actual total haste that popping RF and Potion during heroism is the best, but IMO the boost to just auto shot damage after you hit the 1.5sec cast time on is easily surpassed by having long periods of the fight where you are floating right at or slightly below that cast time. |
