so. i've been doing a lot of raiding on my shaman lately, and i'm pretty confused. i'm sitting at a 5490gs and i'm not seeing anything close to the dps of other enh shamans at my gs. I'm expertise and hit capped, and i know the rotation like the back of my hand.(<---no jokes there) just wondering if anybody had any insight on it lol. i know we have some enh shamans pulling huge numbers, and i'm 100% i'm not contributing as much as i could be. i don't think my crappy weapons have THAT much to do with it

First off, your weapons are terribad. Getting 264s would probably up your dps 1.5k~2k.
Secondly, I've seen Amastaa's dps on every single fight but the LK and valithria dreamwalker. On sindragosa he did a little less than you were in that first ground phase, vut he didn't have the same buffs, he had less. So you were both probably on par with each other. Now. On Saurfang in 25 man Amastaa does about 8.4k dps... I haven't seen yours on him though. ~ judge that for yourself. Lastly from what I remember most of your gem slots were spent gemming for expertise and hit... haste for shamans gives HUGE throughput. Unlike other classes if you don't have enough expertise/hit it doesn't matter if you gem towards it... you have more stats with high priority that allow you to make up for it by having gear with + real stats. But, as a Shaman haste is your bread and butter. And you can't get "extra haste" due to having no gear with exp/hit. Edit: disregard ^. Just got done looking at the enh gear in icc and such... looks like most of it has hit/exp + crit... not haste Than again, I'm no shaman I may be dead wrong. Maybe its your spec? Or maybe you do the appropriate amount of dps for your gear. All I know is, is that 2 new items upped my boomkin dps about 800~1k

this is my first melee character. i'm hoping that the weapons are a lot more important for my dps, because otherwise i'm at a dead end. =/
i'll check out my spec against some geared enh shammys and see what i can come up with. thx for the halpzzz

you are never at a dead end malice, theres always room for improvement somewhere, maybe you are missing a key factor, maybe its your weps, maybe you are missing a key stat that could boost you like hell. i would suggest lookin at other shamans and gettin new weps <3

Every melee class I've seen scales directly with the weapon and its stats. A lot of gear check can be focused on the weapon alone.
Depend on me, my tendency is to judge forgivingly
You can't resist the Skinnee, so give yourself up willingly Still I be feeling the paw of Marshall law, you see? Cross this posse cautiously |

True Steve...
And Derrick, I think you have a great grasp on your class and just are missing a few key gear slots.. ie your weaps. For physical dmg dealers like an enh sham, or rogue, or warrior.. DPS is derived directly from base stats and the dmg output on the weaps. so I think that once you get some 251-264 one handers, your dps will be noticeably higher! Don't ever stop at the brick wall.. find that one way that will work for YOU to get over it. |

1st off, Good day.
![]() Ok,as for haste VS Attack power: on fights like festergut or Saurfang, Haste will give you better DPS on fights like Dreamwalker and LK (where there is alot of movement) Attack power is better. Considering i'm going toward progression, I went with attack power since every bit of DPS counts on hard fights like sindra, LK and such, moreso than on saurfang, where melee DPS is never an issue. you logged off in your PVP gear so it's hard to see if anything could be improved enchant and gemwise but from what i see, You are basically cookie cutter from Elitist jerks. My best advice, try swapping stuff around. that's what I did and for my 5700 GS, Mongoose x 2 was better for me than berserking x 2. Now, with over 6k GS and more haste, Ill see if Berserking is better. its on my To Do list. |

#2395576 Malfurionk wrote: Sorry Malf, but you ARE kinda wrong The MAIN stats that HAVE to be capped first are Exp and Hit... SPELL hit. Yep, we need to hit at least the spell soft hit cap of 13%. A lot of our damage is actually from our spells, so we need to make sure this doesn't miss. Having more of our white damage hit is nice too. If you know how the melee attack system works, you will understand how much the extra hit helps. I will post a link later showing this, too tired to pull it up atm... Keep in mind, for Exp, we get 9 from UR, so we only need 140 hit raiting to get to 26 exp. After that, there are 3 "schools" of enhancement shaman. AP shaman, Hastey shaman, or "Starky" shaman who stack both about evenly (I call it starky because of the gem they stack most of, the Stark Ametrine, AP/Haste) As Zit said, they have their strengths and weaknesses. I myself go with haste, mainly because of the change to flame shock that makes it scale with haste. How you play your shaman in regards to what "school" you go with is up to you. Weapons are indeed important. Most of our stuff scales with weapon damage, such as Stormstrike and Windfury. Make sure you have slow 1handers (2.6-2.8 weapon speed, try to make them the same) in each hand, WF on main hand, FT on offhand. The better weapons you get, the better these abilities get, and major dps increase will come. Enh shaman have a lot to think about. I suggest getting an addon called Shock and Awe. Everyone I have recommended this addon to has gotten at least a 500-1k dps boost from using it. It manages cooldowns and helps you pick what ability to use next. I know you say you have the "rotation" down (I hope you mean priorities, shaman don't have an actual rotation), but it helps. Trust me. Rawr is a good program to get too, if you don't already use it. If you want, I can take a looksie at your spec and gear, or just look at mine. Also, see if my previous posts are still there, there are some good links there. I will post links here later... but now I must sleep. Hope this helped #2114162 Amastaa wrote:#2113918 Joinmyguild wrote: |
