Okay, I know there are some of you holy pallys out there! Lets start talking what we should be doing.
http://www.bananashoulders.com/ Best site I've seen that tells us exactly what we need! Most of it is duh! But it does help explain a few things. What strats and gear do you guys try to go after? |

I read up on the site you posted and ran into a problem, it seems that my holy spec is for pvp
I like the Improved Devotion Aura and Divinity in the Prot tree. Does the crit bonuses from the Ret build surpass the Devotion aura and Divinity from Prot? If so I will respec with no arguements but if they are fairly even I may just be stubborn and give the way i'm spec'd a go.Also I just got my crappy healing gear enchanted and am in desperate need of trinkets.....i'm rolling with dps trinkets in my holy set, hehe. I have a few volunteers to be my test subjects on my way to become a healer. Hehe, should be fun trying out healing, just hoping I can do okay at it. |

IMO, beyond the basic essentials, spec matters little with regard to overall effectiveness in your role. Spec how you enjoy! Many theorycrafters and/or elitist players would be upset with my own decision to use Dancing Rune Weapon (a purely DPS ability with no tanking benefits whatsoever), but I use it because it suits my playstyle. The extra damage could help in a critical burst, as well. It's much more important to know your capabilities and utilize them as well as possible, than it is to pidgeon-hole yourself into a cookie-cutter spec.

I don't play smart enough? lol. Keep judgement of light on raid target for lots of extra heals and the haste bonus. Keep BoL on OT nd heal MT. If you need a quick big heal, pop divine favor, then holy shock following with an instant flash heal. If the tank is taking heavy damage or the raid is taking aoe dmg (like P3 anub or twins) pop divine illumination and spam holy light on tank. I usually pop divine illumination every chance I get, because I never run out of mana. Not very difficult to be a pally healer.
Tanking is a bit harder, just because positioning and whatnot. I'll admit I don't have much tanking experience. My friend is a pally tank however and he says it's cake. Ret dps is pretty simple, as long as it's single target dps your dmg will be consistent. Keep 5 stacks on the target nd pop judgement of wisdom every chance you get. Same with Divine storm. If art of war procs, use exorcism if it is not on cd, otherwise flash heal whoever needs it. try and keep concecration up unless you are low on mana. If you are low on mana thats bad, because there is so manay ways for a pally to regen mana quickly. I'm usually one of the last healers to die and my healing assignment is usually the last to die with me. I'd say I play pretty smart. |
